Shivaji with Mahout on Elephant

The superb bronze depicts Shivaji, a renowned warrior-king living in the 17th century in India. He is credited with the founding of the Maratha Empire. The artifact is comprised of 8 separate pieces to assemble the image as shown here. Under the canopy on the elephant is the mahout (driver) and Shivaji. There is some wear on different pieces which can be seen in the photographs and its likely that some parts have been replaced, however the overall image is quite impressive with a soft glowing patina.
